Dear Mr. Burley Jr.
This letter is in response to your poem submitted to the American Prison Writing Archive. We hope that this letter finds you well.
We have read your poem "The Alias of the Strawman" and will be happy to include it in the Archive. Both the form and the content were immediately immersive to the reader. We appreciated the evolution from general legal system, to a more personal and specific sighting of details. This poem is a valuable perspective on the legal system, but also on the ways that resilience plays a crucial role in imprisonment. Thank you for sharing your perspective.
Please be advised, it may take several months for your essay to appear on the APWA website because of the care we take to digitize and preserve the work we receive before it is posted, as well as a backlog of essays that we are working through. Thank you for your patience. Hard copies are filed in our physical archive for safekeeping.
In the meantime, you are welcome to contribute again. We would be glad to receive more writing from you.
We do not need another PQ from you unless your information changes (such as current facility). We have included an additional PQ form and APWA information sheet for you to share with others if you wish.
We read and respond to all submissions, but due again to the backlog of submissions, our response time is lengthened. Thank you for your patience, and thanks again for writing.
Best wishes,
The Editors American Prison Writing Archive
