Good day,
I hope this letter find you all well. I
recently learned about JLI through another
inmate at my facility and wanted to reach
out to learn more about JKI and how I
can be or part of JLI.
I am a military prisoner sentenced
under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
I got my paralegal certification out of
necessity because of misconduct by staff at
my military facility. I quickly learned to
love legal work and use my information to
help others. Unfortunately like most Jailhouse
lawyers I was transferred to the Federal
Bureau of Prisons from the [redacted]in [redacted],
CA. I am still very passionate about my
legal studies and want to pursue a legal
profession when released. It may be a
lofty goal / uphill battle but I aim to
go to law school to become a lawyer and
advocate for military prisoners and military
Justice reform.
[Page 2]
I learned that JLI has a pen pal program
to pair law students with Jailhouse lawyers.
PLEASE if you could send me more info on
this, and/or add me to the list I would
be extremely greatful. I would love the
opportunity to write with a law student
to discuss the law. I am projected to go to
a halfway base in 2024 (July-ish) so If
possible the sooner the better. :)
I cannot tell you how excited I am
about JLI. Organizations like yours give
People hope, hope that people out there care.
In a system that so easily casts those in
need to the side, hope is all we have.
I'm excited for your future correspondence.
Thank you, be well.

Hello!
I previously wrote you in June and included
an agreement form provided to me by a friend at
my facility. I expressed interest in your penpal
program with student attorneys and requested more
information about your organization.
Unfortunately, I never heard back from you guys.
I really hope this letter reaches you and you are
able to send me more info on what your organization
does. I am nearing the end of my confinement
and really want to take what I have learned
about the law and help people in my situation.
Thank you and I look forward to hearing
from you.
