Jhody,
Hey how are doing ? I pray that all is well. My name is [redacted], I'm writing you because I saw your article in the JLI. I'm wondering how could I contribute to the "JLI"? I'm an author/ poet. I love to write. Some of my work could be found on "Evening Street Press Review" 2021 Spring and Fall.. And AJI Magazine 2021 Spring issue. I have a few books that'll be out in a few weeks.
I love what y'all are doing and I want to be apart of what y'all have going on at JLI. Most of my work is based on things like human rights, Being a voice for the incarcerated etc. I'm looking to be out in some months and
I'm just wondering how could I be an assistant to the cause? I network with numerous people from all over, so I'm trying to help in any way possible.
I hope you enjoy the poems I've enclosed And no offense, but you have an amazing beautiful smile. I'm looking forward to working With y'all . And I have writing on just about everything that pertain to prison and law.
for your time and may god bless you .
Respectful

P.S. The poems are from my book called" America Never
Was America to me"
It should be out in a few weeks.
Election Night in America (Relentless Form Sonnet)
After people have scrambled to cast in their votes at the poll. Some sent their ballots in by mail. They sit with anticipation as they ponder on the future toll. Hoping that the chosen one won't fail.
The saying goes, "In due time, the real shall prevail." Regardless of the obstacles and naysayers We're seeking change while praying that this train doesn't derail. Their goal is to make the minority the only taxpayers.
Election time gives America hope. Equality is something that America's been lacking. Look through the lens of a Black America scope. Understand that there's no time for slacking.
Election night in America is a night to remember. Election night in America is the best night in November.
-Relentless
Segregated From America
We were forced into slavery Stripped of our language, cultture and rights Men murdered and hunged for no reason Black women tortured and raped We been oppressed against since I could remember Cotton fields after cotton fields Plantations after plantations Voting was forbidden
Rights had no meaning Beatings with whips were regular We were looked upon as animals Hatred in their eyes Evil in their hearts Disgust in their voices
Why so much anger? What did we do wrong? Why must we suffer? Black leaders were assassinated Whites were first and had authority Blacks weren't allowed to be equal
Stand up on the buses No Blacks allowed Whites only water fountains The courts enhanced laws strictly for us Do we not bleed the same? Why can't I have the same opportunities? And why am I not wanted here? The ghettos and suburds The rich and the poor We'll always carry a title All because of our color

World Peace
What do your mind ruminate when you hear the words "World Peace?" Does it acknowledge the things that are going on at this present time? As a nation, how can we make unity increase?
There are too many people who are deceased;
By facing racism, brutality and assassination. Isn't this a crime? What do your mind ruminate when you hear the words, "World Peace?" In order to fill the void, it's love that we have to release.
Hopefully this will happen in due time.
As a nation, how can we make unity increase?
In order to have a better world racism has to cease. We have to build off the power of love in the meantime. As a nation, how can we make unity increase?
Open your mind and heart and allow the truth To speak to you over time. What do your mind ruminate when you hear the words, "World Peace?" As a nation, how can we make unity increase?

To: Whom this may concern,
I'm writing to you about the pen pal program. I would like to be added to the list to correspond with people like minded and to share legal information and ideas. I will inform other jailhouse lawyers to write as well. Thanks for your time and may God bless you.
Sincerely, Relentless
